Parliamentary Inquiry into Smart infrastructure

Last year the ASU participated in the Federal Governments  Think  Future conference, http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committee/itrdlg/smartinfrastructure/thinkfuture.htm  conducted by the the former House of Represenatives Committee on Infrastructure, Communications, Regional Development and Local Government .
We have now been advised that the Committee was re-established in the 43rd Parliament, and the inquiry into ‘smart infrastructure’ has been re-referred in the following terms: The Committee is to inquire into ‘smart infrastructure’, assessing its significance and impacts with particular reference to: 
  • The effects of applying ‘smart’ technologies to existing infrastructure to improve asset utilisation and make better use of existing infrastructure  
  • the productivity enhancing effects of embedding ‘smart’ technologies into future infrastructure 
  • any factors which affect the adoption of ‘smart’ technologies 
  • how smart infrastructure applications can assist in reducing the effects of climate change 
  • the role of government in smart infrastructure development, investment, regulation and community engagement
