The NSW Industrial Relations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team has developed three new fact sheets and a handy, pocket-sized booklet specifically to help employers and employees from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The three fact sheets and the Offered a job booklet (http://www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au/pdfs/FS_OfferedAJob.pdf ) outline everything people need to know about workplace rights in bite-sized, easy-to-read sections, including:
- getting paid
- illegal unpaid trial work
- pointers on how to make a good impression at that first interview.
Topics such as long service leave, pay slips and record keeping and leaving your job are also explored in depth, providing helpful tips and advice to ensure employers are on the right track.
